About the Show
Music From Almost Yesterday presents an evening of words and music at Barrow Street Theatre. Performers include LOOP 243 (www.loop243.com), an exciting percussion duo hailed as "smart and engaging" by the New York Times, works by Josh Schmidt (composer for upcoming Barrow Street production Adding Machine) for toy piano featuring Tim Splain (Adding Machine), Steve Gilewski (Gone Missing) on double bass, and other special guests. The evening will include music that goes beyond traditional techniques. You will hear an array of sounds from a group of world-class musicians filling the stage with instruments ranging from drums to electric guitar to toy piano, interspersed with readings from John Cage. Also on the program will be a performance of Cage’s Variations II, where the group of performers will improvise from a graphic score while text from Cage is being read. Come experience the new sounds at Barrow Street Fortnight with Music From Almost Yesterday.
